About My Clients
Are you grieving a loss through death or non-death? Do you feel as if your world has collapsed around you? Are you experiencing longing, deep sadness, low energy, fatigue, muscle tension, nightmares, flashbacks, headaches, or difficulty eating and sleeping? Our bodies remember, even when details are fuzzy in our brains. You may feel as if you have moved past a traumatic event or loss, but then life happens and you react in a way that you do not like. Together we can regain hope, peace, and joy.
My Background and Approach
WE will work together to honor your loved one and past experiences to find new healthy coping strategies that are fulfilling and purposeful. With compassion, humor, and insight, we can work together to rebuild your life and create meaning. I am an EMDR Approved Consultant , and a certified Advanced grief counseling specialist. . I also utilize a combination of other modalities including CBT, DBT, and IFS-informed therapy to help you explore your beliefs, patterns of thinking and behaving, and to find coping skills that work for you. Being blind from birth and a guide dog user, I bring a unique lens through which I see life. Therapy is much like guide dog team work. Both take trust, listening, and respect. I view all experiences good and bad as a natural part of the human experience. we all need extra help at times to move forward and regain balance in our lives. We can work together to find that for you again.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we all have the ability to change, and that we just need the right support and tools to do so. Compromised mental health most often arises from our environment and upbringing, and thus we can unlearn the unhealthy maladaptive behaviors we often utilize to cope and replace them with healthy strategies. I also believe we have the ability to change how we feel by changing our patterns of thinking and thus shift our energy to be more positive and productive. Emotions are energy. Maintaining a positive attitude combined with creating the change we wish to see in ourselves and our lives equals success. Spiritual beliefs or religious traditions and customs are wonderful resources to draw upon to help us heal and create change. I love music of all kinds, it says so much when our own words are not possible. I have an extensive loss history including family, friends, and pets as well as past guide dogs. I still find ways to honor them all and connect with them often.
