About My Clients
I work with clients around topics such as religious and spiritual trauma, old belief systems or fundamentalist systems that have negatively impacted them, trauma, attachment and current dysfunctional patterns that result from past experiences. Often trauma symptoms, anxiety, and depression are a part of this. I enjoy folks who are open to challenging themselves within a safe space and are ready to make connections around how their past is impacting the present.
My Background and Approach
My primary focus as your therapist is that you feel understood and seen. I work to provide a safe space for you to feel heard, and a space where it is safe to challenge yourself. I approach therapy and each client through an intersectional lens and understand that it is vitally important to address the way in which the systems we are a part of impact, cause and contribute to mental health struggles. As an EMDR certified therapist, I am experienced in working with trauma and life experiences that have shaped our view of ourselves in ways that are damaging. I have a broad range of experience in trauma work, with a particular focus on religious trauma, high control groups, and adverse spiritual experiences. Within the safe space of therapy, we will work together to make connections regarding how your past impacts your present life and work to find peace in the present. We will identify tools and strategies that you can utilize and practice in your day to day life to find relief.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have lived experience with religious trauma and have a passion for helping others who are struggling after having adverse religious experiences. I also view therapy and mental health as inextricably linked with the systems we are a part of. Systems of oppression and societal factors are a very important aspect of each individual's life, and I strive to use a lens that acknowledges and is guided by this in therapy and in my life.
