About My Clients
I am at home working with a variety of populations and issues. Some issues I identify closely with include depression, anxiety, substance use, existential concerns, and identity issues. I enjoy talking about life's big questions and believe that there is no blueprint for successful therapy. In the past, I have enjoyed my work with people who identify as being sensitive and creative.
My Background and Approach
I will take the time to listen to you intently. I will strive to know you and the full context in which you locate yourself. Together, we’ll look closely at how existing stories or beliefs about yourself and the world in general may be hindering progress toward your most cherished goals and look for ways to disrupt and change those narratives. The kind of therapy I use is very much informed by the tenets of Psychodynamic Theory, ACT, Narrative Therapy, multicultural models, and an attachment-based framework. These modes of therapy incorporate mindfulness, metaphor, your values, and committed action to help you gain a greater sense of flexibility in your life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe culture plays a big part in our development and therefore in many of the maladaptive patterns we develop, too. From global capitalist culture to local customs to family dynamics, I think it's important to pay attention to these dynamics as we explore your world together. I believe the therapeutic relationship can be a sacred bond that has the capacity to heal deep and painful wounds. Getting there takes patience and openness on the part of both client and therapist but the reparative possibilities are what makes this work so important for me.
