About My Clients

My clients are folks who have decided that they are willing to move through uncertainty and discomfort to find something new. They may not know what it is yet, but they've decided "not this." My clients are willing to examine their thought and behavior patterns, traumas, fears and successes in order to build a life that feels safe, grounded and joyful. Often parents, kiddos, teens and families, they are willing to understand their interaction patterns and experiment in service of their goals.

My Background and Approach

I graduated from Guilford College in 2004 with a dual degree in Psychology and Community & Justice Studies. After graduating, I lived between San Francisco and Portland, working on grassroots campaigns, in the ed tech space, and as a leadership development coach. Soon it became clear that social work was my passion and I went back to school for my MSW at the UNC Chapel Hill School of Social Work. For the last (almost) three years, I've been a family therapist for kiddos in crisis, working on communication, crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques, nervous system regulation, and improving overall attachment between family members. I have experience supporting families who are fostering or have adopted children and provide gender affirming care to LGBTQ+ folks, offering support, guidance and resources. No one exists in a vaccum and early in therapy, I work to learn the systems and people surrounding my clients in order to inform a tailored approach to our work together.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that people’s behaviors, beliefs, thought patterns and needs are products of their experiences, genetics, the society in which they live and the quality of support they receive. I believe that a good therapist is human first and willing to share parts of their own life, strategically and ethically, to support client progress. I believe that a therapist's office should be a space where clients feel safe to be entirely authentic, cuss when needed, and ride the waves of any emotion that shows up.
