About My Clients
Do you have a hard time understanding and articulating your feelings? Do you feel stuck in patterns or relationships that aren't working for you? I understand the pain and challenges of feeling stuck; of knowing it can be better but not knowing how to get there. I can help you (or you and your partner) move away from the beliefs and behaviors that are holding you back and move toward the life you want to live.
My Background and Approach
Research shows that the healing process is most effective when our obstacles are seen, heard, safely held, and processed within a trusted relationship with a caring person. Working together through online therapy, we’ll identify the patterns, thoughts and behaviors that are keeping you stuck. Using evidence-based techniques from divergent fields including neuroscience, mindfulness, epigenetics and trauma, we'll work to heal the old wounds where your patterns developed, and then we'll work to establish patterns that bring you greater happiness and satisfaction. With couples, I use the most highly regarded, evidence-based approaches and combine them to meet the unique needs of each couple I work with. Together, we'll work to identify the patterns that keep you stuck, understand the underlying needs and desires of each partner, and establish new, more fulfilling ways of relating to one another.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we all possess the resources for growth, transformation and coping with life’s various challenges. Mental health issues arise when we lose sight of this. Therapy is about re-connecting us with these innate capacities. Change is always possible. Even if external change is limited, internal change is still possible. My work is based on the belief that human beings are relational, meaning relationships are central to our health and well-being. I also believe that in order to understand people and problems, it is important to understand the impact of wider systems and social contexts on people’s lives. Context is of paramount significance for an individual’s psychological development and emotional well-being. Lastly, our bodies are one of our greatest tools. In order to feel whole and alive we need to be able to settle, trust, and listen to our bodies.
