About My Clients
I see a broad range of clients suffering from a variety of symptoms and life circumstances. In the past few years more of my clients have sought me out for my specialized training in EMDR to process past trauma in order to resolve their presenting symptoms and interpersonal issues.
My Background and Approach
I have a B.A in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and a M.A. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage & Family Therapy from Chapman University. I received supervised case consultation training from the Academy of Cognitive Training in New York. My experience includes working in practice practice, intensive outpatient care agencies, schools and community clinics. My treatment approach focuses on collaborating with my clients to address current maladaptive/distressing thoughts, feelings and behavior in the context of their psychosocial history in order to clearly identify underlying needs and wishes. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) which has been a growing focus of my practice over the past few years. EMDR is an evidenced-based treatment that is very effective in the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Anxiety Disorders.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone is doing the best that they can and when they can do better they will. We are the culmination of our biology, developmental history and life experiences. It is my job to collaborate with my clients to develop a treatment plan that can lead to improved interpersonal relationships, decreases in presenting symptoms and a more fulfilling experience of their lives. We all need help sometimes and it is a privilege for me to be able to witness and be a part of another's healing and relief from unnecessary suffering.
