About My Clients
I enjoy doing trauma work and helping individuals work through past experiences that are still causing them pain. I have previously enjoyed working with teens, young adults, and adults on a variety of different issues. My purpose is to support you in healing what might need to be healed and making changes to improve your quality of life. My clients are the experts of their own lives. I am here to act as a guide as we work on the issues they determine are important to them.
My Background and Approach
I come from a yours, mine, and ours sort of family. I am well-versed in the world of non-traditional or non-nuclear families. I strive to be trauma-informed while working with all clients, even if we are not specifically working on trauma-related issues. My goal is to help my clients understand themselves, develop healthy skills, and make changes they want to see in their lives. Initial sessions focus on developing a counseling relationship and identifying goals. Once goals are identified we work together to find the best interventions to help you achieve those goals. My purpose is to help you tap into your own wisdom to help you move forward. We will use different methods such as talk therapy, expressive arts, writing, and other types of interventions to develop a healthy sense of self. As the sense of self becomes stronger, the ability to confront life's issues improves.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I personally strive to be politically informed and culturally competent. I believe that all individuals deserve dignity and respect and should have access to basic human rights. As a former volunteer for the Trevor Project, I believe that LGBTQIA+ rights are human rights.
