About My Clients

The types of clients that tend to do well with me are looking for expertise, connection, positive regard and warmth. They are ready to commit to the therapy process and prefer a talkative sharing relationship with their therapist. They know it's hard to get started but they trust in the process to yield gains. My clients feel comfortable with online work and may have issues with relationships, family, mood disorders, depression, anxiety or life transitions.

My Background and Approach

I bring a respect for integrative work to my practice. It's not just what works but what works for the person I'm working with. Therapies are metaphors for trying to solve the same problems. The real question becomes: what works for you. I encourage my clients to think about what types of things are helping them, and I take into account their desire for personalized treatment. I've studied and practiced a number of theories, but always the question is which ones will fit for you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

The politics of identity clash angrily with the politics of equality, and this is something I think we have fought or will continue to for a long time. What I know going out the door is that I need to carry love and understanding, and I need to know when people have not been given that to address the distress discrimination causes. In the end most of us are hurt people. How do we heal each other?
