About My Clients
Are you feeling consistently anxious, depressed, or stuck? Maybe you're having relationship or family difficulties, struggling with the impact of trauma, or just having a rough time lately. Perhaps you're questioning your identity/sexuality, having a hard time navigating societal/familial expectations, or figuring out who you are. Life doesn't always have to be this hard. I will meet you where you're at and help you get to where and who you want to be.
My Background and Approach
I received my Bachelor's and Master's of Social Work, with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). I started my career at the disability resource center on campus, working with students with registered mental health diagnoses and physical disabilities. While there, I discovered my love for working with college students and young adults. Today, I work with teens and young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, boundary setting, trauma, LGBTQ+ issues, family/relationship conflict, and more. I take a trauma-informed, holistic approach to mental health care and incorporate various therapeutic modalities as appropriate, depending on your needs. I aim to give clients tangible skills to work toward their goals and create real change in their lives.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm from a small, rural community and understand the stigma surrounding therapy/mental health and the apprehension to seek help. Sometimes we need a little extra support and that's okay. I have great respect for folks wanting better for themselves and their lives. I work with many therapy newbies and do my best to ensure you have a welcoming, comfortable experience. If you have questions about therapy/treatment options, please don't hesitate to ask! Warmly, Ashley
