About My Clients
* Accepting New Clients* I work with children and adolescents (ages 8 and up), young adults and adults. I have experiences in helping clients manage anxiety, depression, stressful life changes, family concerns, and school-based concerns. My past career as an educator influences my style of therapy by building knowledge, awareness and action-oriented interventions that help clients feel better and more empowered to take control of their thoughts, feelings, and behavior.
My Background and Approach
I practice as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA), in North Carolina (License #A17266). I received a Master of Education in School Counseling from the University of West Alabama in 2008 and additional training through a Clinical Mental Health internship. I provide therapy tailored to the individual needs of clients. I serve as a partner with clients throughout the counseling process as we work together to explore thoughts, feelings, values, and behaviors and the impact these are having on relationships and life satisfaction. My theoretical approach involves integrating Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior- Informed Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Person-Centered Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. Each of these approaches centers on action-based interventions and builds on the strengths of the client.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe successful treatment is rooted in a warm, supportive, and trusting relationship where I utilize an open minded and non-judgmental attitude to gain understanding. I serve as a partner with clients throughout the counseling process as we work together to explore thoughts, feelings, values, and behaviors and the impact these are having on relationships and life satisfaction.
