About My Clients
I'm not sure about "ideal client", but I have helped a lot of folks, both in private practice and community care, work through their anxiety and build up their confidence. I've helped people grow and repair their relationships, and also how to set boundaries and walk away when a relationship is too toxic. I utilize ACT, which is about helping learning how to accept out emotions and gain more control over how we react to them in our lives.
My Background and Approach
Hello! I’m a New York licensed mental health counselor. I’ve worked in the community for 6 years, helping folks with complex trauma and severe mental illness take control back in their lives. This work has taught me the beauty of growth, and how every step should be celebrated. I want to help people gain a more complete understanding of themselves, and learn the best ways for themselves to process experiences both good and bad. I hope to help folks develop resilience and coping skills to identify what a rich and meaningful life means to you, and equip you with the tools to get there.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I personally believe therapy is a tool, and one that often only needs to be utilized temporarily. Like using crutches after a broken leg, therapy is there to help support you until you've gained the skills and confidence to go off on your own again. Essentially, my approach to therapy is very solution-oriented and tools based - I work on helping people learn skills, practice them, and use them. I believe this because, in my experience as a community provider, sometimes behavioral health care can be a bit infantalizing and the provider may not move towards graduation when that client is more than ready. I don't think it helps anybody to work with them under the assumption that they will need therapy for the rest of their life. That typically isn't true, so I focus heavily on empowerment and practicing skills as we learn them.
