About My Clients
I specialize in trauma work and anxiety treatment. Although I welcome people from all identities and walks of life, I do have special experience working with queer-identifying individuals and teens. I also love working with self-identified "people pleasers", those who struggle with boundaries and survivors of abuse. I see you, and I would love to provide a safe and empowering place for you to start healing and giving yourself what you already provide for others.
My Background and Approach
I know it can feel intimidating to embark on a journey of self-improvement and self-acceptance. Luckily, SE (Somatic Experiencing) is a gentle approach to trauma-informed counseling that helps you ease into the process. It's great for beginners to therapy, as well as longtime therapy-goers who feel stuck in traditional talk therapy and want to access a new part of the work. Before we even get to work, my very first priority is to help you feel safe and regulated as we clarify your goals. I am a very collaborative therapist, so my work will only be done within the framework of the pacing and topics that you are comfortable with, and this can shift at any time. I will never pressure you to change or push you in a certain direction. I value your agency and hope to walk with you on your therapeutic journey while empowering you to make the best decisions for yourself. Along the way I can ensure your safety, and I promise to hold your pain with you without bias or judgment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone is capable of healing, and it is never too late to start your journey in therapy. We can all benefit from having a safe space to work through complex emotions. The emotions that accompany trauma can be especially difficult to process, and it can be life-changing to have someone holding your hand as you face the experiences you might be avoiding. I know from my own trauma work in therapy how powerful a strong, warm and calming presence can be. Additionally, I am extremely passionate about my work within the LGBTQIA+ community. As a bisexual woman, I have faced my fair share of biphobia, misunderstanding and hurt, both from folks inside and outside our community. I understand the unique issues that we face as queer-identifying people, and I welcome open discussion about sex and sexuality. Finally, I am a strong believer in animal rights and I welcome the company of ESA pets in session. Our animals have the power to heal and regulate us!
