About My Clients
I specialize in trauma work and work within the LGBTQ+ community. If you're struggling with anxiety, past trauma, oppression, acceptance or your identity, this is a safe space for you. I understand it can be anxiety-inducing to start therapy for the first time. Know that I will meet you wherever you are and we can walk through your experiences together at your pace.
My Background and Approach
There might be events or emotions from your past that you’re still feeling, or you might have just experienced something that is weighing on you. If so, I can help you navigate the complicated and scary feelings that might be coming up. Trauma work can feel like a daunting undertaking, but I am with you every step of the way. I’m passionate about nurturing the connection between body, mind and soul. Mindfulness is very important to me. We cannot feel present until we acknowledge and name all facets of our experience. Let’s work on building this awareness together. I like to focus on somatic work within the body, and my goal for you is to help you build a toolbox of coping skills to help you self-regulate when stressful feelings arise. We will work together in building resilience, self-efficacy and hope for the future. I am trained in Somatic Experiencing (Beginning I) and implement this heavily in my practice. SE has a focus on healing trauma gently through the felt senses.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone is capable of healing, and it is never too late to start your journey in therapy. We can all benefit from having a safe space to work through complex emotions. The emotions that accompany trauma can be especially difficult to process, and it can be life-changing to have someone holding your hand as you face the experiences you might be avoiding. I know from my own trauma work in therapy how powerful a strong, warm and calming presence can be. Additionally, I am extremely passionate about my work within the LGBTQIA+ community. As a bisexual woman, I have faced my fair share of biphobia, misunderstanding and hurt, both from people inside and outside our community. I understand the unique issues that we face as members of a historically oppressed people, and I welcome open discussion about sex and sexuality. Finally, I am a strong believer in animal rights and I welcome the company of ESA pets in session. Our animals have the power to heal and regulate us!
