Online therapist specializing in anxiety and depression. Helping clients via video in Missouri and Georgia.
Clinical Social Worker in Missouri & Georgia,
Eclectic Therapy means I have a lot of tools in my toolbox to share with you. I can pull from many types of modalities to find a mix that's perfect for you.
CBT stresses the role of thinking patterns in how we feel and what we do. It is based on the belief that our thoughts, rather than people or outside events, cause our negative feelings. I assist you in identifying, testing the reality of, and correcting dysfunctional beliefs underlying your thinking. Then, I can help you modify those thoughts and the behaviors that flow from them. CBT is a structured collaboration between therapist and client and often calls for homework.
Mindfulness is being fully present with awareness of what you're doing and feeling without being overly reactive. I believe we all practice mindfulness to a certain degree, but that it can be cultivated and used regularly and even naturally. It requires practicing meditation; think of it as learning a new language of communication with your self.
At its core, anxiety is an inability or difficulty accepting the unknown. Often there are core beliefs behind the anxiety that make it hard to change; we'll work to figure out what those are and form more flexible core beliefs.
Trichotillomania (hair pulling) and excoriation disorder (skin picking) can cause sufferers to feel isolated and lost. I can help get you on the road to recovery.
Depression goes deeper than just feeling sad. It can be lonely. It often eats away at self-esteem and isolates you. Like anxiety, there are usually some core beliefs behind these feelings and I'll work with you to discover those and create new, more flexible core beliefs.
