About My Clients
My passion has always been working with children, adolescents, and teenagers that are struggling to be heard. Growing up today is not an easy task and there is a variety of stressors that have an impact on children's well being. My goal in therapy is to help my clients find their voice and learn to advocate for themselves. I enjoy working with clients who are struggling with anxiety, social anxiety, attachment disorders, behavioral disorders and depression.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and I utilize an eclectic approach to meet each client where they are at while integrating CBT, REBT, ACT, and Solution Focused therapies. I incorporate expressive arts, mindfulness, play therapy and other techniques to help promote a safe space for my client to feel comfortable. I also have training in child centered play therapy and trust based relational intervention to help children who struggle forming attachment. As a therapist, I believe that building a therapeutic relationship with my client is the first step towards healing. I enjoy walking with my clients through their struggles to come out on the other side stronger and healthier. I strive to provide a warm environment that fosters trusts and encourages clients to feel their own emotions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that children have the capacity for change despite their (sometimes) small stature and difficulty expressing themselves with words. Being a child means having so little control, of course it might be hard to navigate emotions at times. As a therapist, I get the opportunity to meet your child and find the reasons behind those poor behavior choices. Children in the foster care and adoption system struggle to form secure attachment relationships due to the instability that they likely encountered early on in their life. I welcome the chance to be help children and families build secure attachments and healthier relationships.
