About My Clients
I specialize in working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and personality disorders. I mainly utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, where we work on reshaping irrational thoughts and beliefs. However, I have a wide array of knowledge and experience in a multitude of other therapeutic orientations. I feel starting from the beginning of clients' stories, wherever that may be, is vital in capturing the whole picture, along with working on self-esteem.
My Background and Approach
My biggest passion in life is helping others, as I have been on my own mental health journey and have faced a lot of my own battles. I knew from a young age that I did not want anyone else to go through some of the experiences that I faced and if they did, I did not want them to feel alone, helpless, or like there was no light at the end of the darkness. That is why person-centered therapy is a popular approach in my work, as I want my clients to feel they are in a safe and non-judgmental environment. By using person-centered therapy, clients can, sometimes for the first time, be in control of their lives and lead them in a mentally happy and healthy way. I also utilize mindfulness, as this is a great tool for those struggling with depression, anxiety, and trauma.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a huge advocate for destigmatizing mental health. I believe that mental illness is misrepresented in the media and I am passionate about advocating for change. I feel that there is a negative light shed on asking for help and that can lead a lot of people a stray from doing so. I am also passionate about being involved in suicide prevention and trauma-informed care. Another big passion of mine is animals, especially dogs. I strive to be more active in volunteer work at shelters and always make sure dogs are treated properly, never poorly.
