About My Clients
The folk's I work with are typically coping with the effects trauma and are wanting to utilize EMDR to process this trauma. They are typically LGBTQIA+ folks , neuro-divergent , have open/varying ways of life. They are people struggling with generalized and social anxiety, death anxiety, PTSD, and ADHD. I also enjoy working with folks who like to utilize Astrology and Tarot in their therapy journey if it is within their pre-established belief system. Please note that I only see adults 18+.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in New Mexico with a Master's degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling from Lewis and Clark College in Oregon. In addition, I hold a BA in Psychology from NMSU. My view of the function of counseling is that it is a journey of facilitated self-exploration to increase levels of self-awareness and understanding that informs the individual on how to navigate the challenges life presents to them. I work from a client centered perspective, adapting to each individual's needs. I believe every person is different, and therefore, my modalities should adapt to the needs of the individual. I tend to use "parts work", and EMDR as my primary modalities. I act as a facilitator for the individual to discover their own strengths, modes of coping, spiritual belief systems, and creativity. Ultimately, it is my job to help individuals identify, develop, and mobilize their resources to successfully find ways to meet their own needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I identify as a non-binary, femme presenting, neuro-divergent, queer human. I am oriented towards a social justice lens in counseling. I believe that Black Lives Matter. I use tarot and astrology in my personal life and in my counseling practice (fully dependent on the client's unique belief system). I am originally from New Mexico but lived for 8 years in Oregon before returning home to NM. I live with my spouse and 3 cats, named Tofu, Chicken, and Meatball.
