About My Clients
Do you find it difficult to say no, or have a hard time answering the question of; "who am I,"? Perhaps you find yourself very much "there for" others, but having difficulty knowing what it means to take care of yourself along the way? Often, we find ourselves in patterns of relating to others in which our own self takes a back of the bus seat, if a seat at all. I work with clients to help them notice these patterns and take steps toward a new way of living and relating.
My Background and Approach
My approach is psychodynamic, which means that I believe that our present difficulties in relating to self and others often trace their way back to patterns of relating we learned when we were very young. This doesn't mean that we spend sessions dwelling in the past, as it is the present that clients are interested in getting help with! Rather, it can be helpful to identify these patterns & where we learned them, as it often leads us to the present steps we can take in unlearning them and trying something new, that, while perhaps hard at first, becomes easier and lighter as we learn to relate in a way where we feel valued, understood and connected to others.
