Hello! I'm your local OCD specialist. I love thinking, talking, supervising and consulting about all things OCD.

Licensed Professional Counselor in Vancouver, WA

About My Clients

Most of my clients have OCD, body-focused repetitive behaviors, body dysmorphia, are Autistic, or are coping with running psychologically "tight." I enjoy working with people who feel skeptical or even cynical about counseling and work to make therapy an effective, fun, and educational experience where they have total visibility into the process. While I work with folks with a variety of career types, I specialize in helping technology professionals, since I worked in that world for many years.

My Background and Approach

I draw on my professional experience in technology companies along with my formal training in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and some newer training in Radically Open DBT (RODBT) for much of my work. Many of my clients have co-occurring anxiety and work-related challenges and we can often work on both issues simultaneously to improve clients' mental health AND work lives. While I draw from scientific evidence of what's proven to work in various studies, those proven techniques only work when they are appropriately customized into the life of the particular client in my office. Evidence-based should NOT mean cookie-cutter. I strive to be both scientific and highly personal in my practice.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My first career was in tech and so I am a nerd at heart who enjoys supporting folks in that industry, whether through work stress, mental health challenges, career changes, or even practical management concerns. I've spent much of my clinical training focused on OCD-spectrum issues including "Purely obsessional OCD" and health anxiety. I'm also deeply passionate about helping folks navigate the healthcare system to get the best care possible. That means I work well with people who have health anxiety, chronic pain, other chronic medical conditions, or mental health concerns that benefit from medical support. Many of my family members and friends are physicians and I feel like most of our conversations are about how we can improve care, access, and the healthcare system at large. As a mother to three young children, I am intimately aware of the challenges facing new parents (and not-so-new parents) as they juggle careers, aging parents, and children.
