About My Clients
I work with busy couples who are stuck in a cycle of miscommunication and disconnection that they don't know how to get out of. Many of my clients come to therapy at a time when career and family needs are pulling them away from being able to focus on their relationship. We start from the position that keeping a relationship strong requires work -- but the RIGHT kind of work. Week by week, topic by topic, we talk through stuckness and get to resolution.
My Background and Approach
I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Stanford University in 2005, and my master's degree in Social Work from the University of Chicago in 2009. Both schools emphasized the importance of using evidence-based practices to achieve the best outcomes for clients, and consequently I draw from effective therapy approaches such as Gottman Method therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed therapy to guide my work with clients. I've been practicing couples therapy since 2012, helping clients through everything from making time for each other, to listening better to each other's needs, to reducing conflict, to recovering from affairs and broken trust, to reigniting a lost sex life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we all deserve relationships that bring us joy – even in hard times. I am a strong believer in the power of good relationship work: you shouldn’t have to be stuck in a spiral of miscommunication and disconnection simply because you don’t know the right steps to get out. While most couples I see are monogamous, I am strongly supportive of monogamous, monogam-ish, and polyamorous relationships, and as a bisexual woman myself, delight in working with queer and straight couples alike. I enjoy helping couples escape from oppressive believe systems around sex, gender roles, race, money, and constant busyness and overwork.
