I approach foster and adoption through a trauma-informed lens and view supporting the entire family system as key for stability and success. I have completed certification training in family therapy for foster/adoption through PSU and DHS. I understand the impact that attachment trauma has on the family system, and the importance of working together to build a healthy and thriving family.

My work with survivors of trauma includes experience with attachment injury, pysical/sexual abuse and neglect, systemic oppression, and the impact of trauma on the family system. I work with clients to understand and change the impact of trauma on our personal relationships. I am trained in EMDR which has been found to be helpful in reducing panic response to reminders of trauma, challenging our negative beliefs about ourselves, and developing a present sense of safety.

My interest in this topic to to provide support to family members who are adjusting to a loved one's gender transition. My commitment is based on my personal experience of having three close family members come out as transgender or gender non-conforming, and the recognition that the support people often need a place for their own emotional processing. I come from a place of affirming gender identity, while developing insight into beliefs and values that may feel incongruent.
