About My Clients
I assist clients who are feeling "off," but aren't sure why, or maybe they know what's up, but they aren't used to seeking support. You may be experiencing depression or anxiety, having trouble in a relationship or with a boss or acquaintance or facing life changes. Change is scary! You may be hesitant about therapy. It may seem too critical, too boring, or even futile. It doesn’t have to be. I will provide space to explore the wide range of human emotions with you.
My Background and Approach
It's important for me to connect with my clients. The relationship between therapist & client is vital to effective treatment. My approach is person-centered. I strive to provide a comfortable, nonjudgmental space that is caring and supportive. Clients can show up as they are and know they will be accepted. You are welcome with me. My person-centered approach provides space and safety for you to freely explore self-discovery that may help you grow in ways that lead to positive change across all areas of your life. I also use Motivational Interviewing for those who struggle with finding the motivation to do the work they know is needed or who struggle with ambivalence. Narrative therapy offers clients a chance to share past experiences with an opportunity to shift to a more positive perception of the experience.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In my life, I’ve found a unique sense of freedom in being my authentic self. There have been situations in which I could experiment with expressing my real self. I’ve found so much good, and I’ve found a side of myself that enjoys supporting others in their own exploration. I believe growth & acceptance are ongoing practices with ups and downs, good days and bad days. I’ve also seen and experienced how shame damages and holds people down. I strive to make and hold space for the incredible spectrum of human emotion. There’s room to express & explore every emotion: anger to confusion to frustration to sadness to shame, etc. I’m drawn to a person-centered approach, because it takes time to build trust and connection and to feel comfortable with others. I want to provide an environment for clients that cultivates safety & authenticity; a space in which they feel seen. I have a sense of awe for the ways people may flourish when we see & accept them as the whole individuals that they are.
