About My Clients
My clients are those who feel like they don't belong anywhere. Or those that feel like they aren't good enough. Maybe they feel like they don’t fit into queer spaces or straight spaces. Perhaps they don’t fit into the box assigned to them by society, family, trauma(s) experienced, anxiety, and/or depression. All of this is absolutely ok! I'm here to support folks as they discover their true authentic selves!
My Background and Approach
I began my social work career working in LGBTQIA2S+ policy, lobbying, community organization, and activism. I have advocated for several pieces of legislation written to advance the rights of LGBTQIA2S+ people in the state of California. Know that I bring the advocacy, empowerment, community building, and relational skills to the therapeutic setting with my clients. I also help support them as they learn to advocate for themselves and their needs. I operate from strengths-based, trauma-informed, and anti-racist approaches. I know that trauma survivors are just that, survivors. For those of us who have experienced trauma, myself included, it is very scary to let people into our lives. I will follow your lead until you feel ready and safe to disclose whatever it is that is causing you pain. Your safety and security is of the utmost importance to me as a clinician.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My clients come to me and stay with me because I provide a space where you can just be you. I am a therapist who is LGBTQIA2S-affirming. I understand that there are therapists who have invalidated your experiences. I have been invalidated myself, and it's terribly painful. You deserve a therapist that hears you and sees you. I have lived experience in not being seen or heard. I know how isolating it feels. I’ve also been where you are right now. I have experienced therapy both as a client and now as a clinician. In sharing this, my hope is that you realize that you’re not alone. Healing happens in community and that community can be the therapeutic relationship. Take comfort in knowing that who you are is more important than what others want you to be. And even if you don’t believe that now, we can work together to get you there.
