The attachments we form in early childhood with caregivers can set the stage as a 'blueprint' for how we attach to others. By exploring different attachment styles in our relationships, we can uncover ways that we bond and ways to deepen our relationships with others.

Our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. Through CBT, we can explore automatic thinking patterns and ways to change responses and behavior to reduce anxiety and depression.

I have worked with countless clients who have difficulty in adjusting to life stressors. Change can be very hard! Adjustment Disorder can happen when we have distress in adapting to a new life change, even changes that appear positive. Together, we can work to uncover our thoughts and feelings around various events and increase resiliency and overall wellbeing.

Anxiety can be a very normal human response born out of the desire to keep ourselves safe. Sometimes, our anxiety responses can start to become normalized and chronic, emerging even if there is not a threatening situation imminent. Together, we can work to identify the function of anxiety, ways that it is negatively impacting our lives, and ways to increase coping to reduce distress and the anxiety response.

For the past few years, I have worked with folks suffering from alcohol use or dependence. In my experience, substance use is often the symptom of a deeper issue. Together, we can discern what stressors within our environment are contributing to our use, ways to increase distress tolerance or our ability to cope, and ways to reduce the urge to drink or use.

Motivational interviewing is an approach that helps strengthen your desire and commitment for change. Utilizing a few basic tenets, we can work together to increase motivation for change especially when it comes to discontinuing substance use.
