About My Clients

My clients come from a variety of different backgrounds, but all come with an intention to learn more about themselves, their unique patterns of relating in the world, and gain relief from some of their troubling symptoms. These symptoms may include anger, resentment, anxiety, perfectionism, depression, emotional overwhelm, disordered eating, or trouble in relationships with family and loved ones. Most have early relational trauma from their family of origin that continues to impact them.

My Background and Approach

If I were to describe my approach, I would say it is warm, inviting, curious, and collaborative. I believe that true healing can only be done if there is a safe and trusting relationship. My training has been in depth, psychodynamic, and attachment based orientations, which means I am primarily interested in learning about how you relate to yourself and others currently and historically. This collaborative exploration gives us clues as to what might remain out of consciousness and what you might be needing in order to heal. Through the process of therapy and of being seen and known by another person, you can start to get in touch with your unmet needs, wounded places, grief, and start to develop new ways of relating to ourselves and others. Slowly but surely, symptoms start to lift and you can start to relate to yourself with more honesty, humility, compassion, and authenticity. I do ask for a weekly commitment, as I have found that to be the most effective way to work.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I received my undergraduate Psychology degree at UC Berkeley and my Masters in Integral Counseling at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS). I have interned at a local, sliding scale community therapy clinic, and have done play therapy with young children through the public education system. Currently, I also volunteer as a group facilitator with Josies Place, an organization that offers grief support for those who have lost a loved one. I have a background in fine art and floral design and find art and creativity to be tools for growth and exploration. I look forward to hearing from you. Please feel free to text or call the number listed below, or fill out the form provided. I do offer a free 15 minute phone consultation to determine if it feels like a good fit.
