About My Clients

I currently offer services to adults (18-64) struggling to cope with various concerns, from daily stressors, life transitions, and relationship issues to depression, anxiety, emotion dysregulation, trauma, etc. As an Asian-American woman, I understand the influence of filial piety, gender roles/expectations, and the challenge of balancing bicultural norms/values. I approach my clients with cultural awareness/sensitivity and consider their individual needs while respecting their cultural beliefs.

My Background and Approach

I have extensive experience providing evidence-based treatments and primarily utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). The emphasis of these three therapies is on becoming more attuned to the present moment. The strategies taught in treatment typically focus on strengthening or developing adaptive behaviors by changing unhelpful or ineffective thinking patterns, acting by your value-driven goals, and building a life worth living. My clinical experience includes, but is not limited to, serving as the Assistant Clinical Director of the Adult Outpatient Psychiatry CBT/DBT Clinic at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where I underwent rigorous training via their APA-Accredited Postdoctoral Fellowship program; and as a staff psychologist at CA DSH-Metropolitan, where I offered therapy and conducted various psychological and forensic evaluations for gravely disabled inpatient adults.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that all persons are capable of change and growth insofar as the amount of effort made. I am a proponent of self-discovery via looking at our thoughts rather than from our thoughts, accepting circumstances or experiences that are/were beyond our control, and practicing behaviors consistent with our value-driven goals. I am hopeful that every one of my clients has the inherent power to persevere during their darkest moments. Therapy allows clients to reveal their most vulnerable selves without judgment or ridicule. It is meant to be a safe space where the skills they learn are practiced with their therapist/coach so that they can integrate those tools outside of therapy, thereby enhancing their ability to cope and live a more meaningful, fulfilling life.
