My specialty area is helping adults recover from emotional abuse and emotional neglect they experienced growing up (forms of complex PTSD/C-PTSD). The ways people adapt to those experiences affect how they see themselves and the world, and can result in symptoms that get labeled as depression, anxiety, or other diagnoses. Together we can use trauma-responsive approaches that work with your inner resources and nervous system to help you heal deeply.

For those who feel stuck in hopelessness, sadness, numbness, and disconnection, even simple tasks can become impossible and pointless. You may feel like you’ve lost yourself and may not be able to feel much beyond that. People might offer "mind-over-matter" comments that just add to the shame of this experience. I want to help you look at the meaning of your feelings, to meet the needs they are about. Things can get better.

You may feel like you're working against yourself sometimes, like there are different versions of you in conflict--some versions you like, and some you hate. There is potential for healing these inner relationships. Self re-parenting your wounded inner child/ren and learning to understand and care for other parts of yourself can be deeply relieving. We can help you understand and navigate the natural—and valuable—complexity within you.

Trauma is, by nature, an embodied experience that asks us to respond to needs beyond the rational and verbal, at deeper levels. We can connect with your inner wisdom about your needs, to heal old wounds at the deep level. I offer "parts" work, guided focusing, EFT tapping, psychoeducation and somatic interventions to move away from a solely intellectual understanding, to help you learn to attend to your genuine needs to heal trauma and create a life you can thrive in.

Processing life through creative media lets your unconscious strengths help you heal. The creative process itself can provide a perfect balance of safety and realness to support change. Often, there is less need to talk about difficult topics, or even things that you have consciously forgotten about but still feel nagging at the edges of your mind. I offer virtual sandtray and creative experiences to help non-artists and artists alike to gain insight and heal.

I believe that empathy, warmth, and genuineness are the best tools for healing. You are the expert on YOU, while it's my job to support safety and offer options to support your process. People who didn’t like therapy before often find our work is different, possibly because I'm neurodivergent myself. They say sessions with me are warm and caring, and we tailor the process to you instead of following formulas. I'll use your own words to describe yourself and support your autonomy.
