About My Clients

Lots of people seek counseling for problems we both know are bigger than any one person. Managing relationships, school or work - let alone anxiety, depression, sexuality or identity - is a lot to ask of someone who is already navigating oppressive systems every day. Together, we can build a judgement free space to untangle the painful mental and emotional knots in your life. I can support you to find ways to connect anew, to live confidently and authentically, and to get through the hard times.

My Background and Approach

As a former community organizer and hospitality professional, I've seen plenty of people struggling with life's difficulties using tools that didn't help how they hoped. I want you to feel safe before we dive into anything that's painful. I use evidence-based interventions - including body-focused, mindful techniques - early on. Once you're ready, we can dive deeper into the roots of your troubling thoughts and feelings. All of this happens at your pace with zero judgment about what works and what doesn't. I studied multiple religions for roughly a decade. I know how valuable - and challenging - your spirituality can be for your life choices, your relationships, and your worldview. Also, I have a certificate of sex therapy from Adler University in partnership with AASECT. What that means is if you want to talk about sex, we can. We also don't have to, because your consent and your bodily autonomy matters to me.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Clinical work is a career change for me, and thus the therapy I do is rooted in my preexisting commitments to liberation. First of all, Black Lives Matter, and I'm not just saying that to say it. I've been to marches, I donate money, I read bell hooks and Angela Davis (among many others), I've volunteered for Brave Space Alliance - specifically their crisis food pantry delivery program from 2020 through 2021. What's more, Land Back. Again, I donate to the cause, I educate myself and others, I attend protests, and I have worked to advocate for Indigenous peoples' human rights locally and nationally. I could go on, but the point is that I don't just talk. I strive to live out my values in every moment of my life - and I promise, I'm not a superhuman. I play video games, watch sportsball (please just let me have this), and spend lazy days with my elderly dog. So, if you would like some support to live out your values, real and humble, I'm here to accept you exactly as you are right now.
