About My Clients
I work with clients who are feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, stuck, or stagnant. Whether it's work, relationships, personal growth, or creative processes, there are so many reasons why we might feel out of touch with ourselves or what feels most fulfilling. I also often help clients identify how the reactions we have to life can be so deeply impacted by the systems that rule our lives. Maybe the feelings you're struggling with make sense, within a world that is not currently built to sustain us.
My Background and Approach
I’ve been an independently licensed therapist since 2013, first in Illinois and now in California, and I’m so grateful to do this work. I have experience working with people who are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, body image issues, stress, burnout, and the desire for personal growth and getting more in touch with their intuitive knowing. My approach is holistic, collaborative, and relational. Embodiment is a big part of the work as well - engaging with the full self can mean starting to think from the neck down, rather than keeping everything intellectualized. I do not place myself as the authority in this partnership - YOU are your own authority, and often therapy can support the process of tuning back into your own autonomy. I approach therapy (and life) within an abolitionist framework, and I view the therapeutic relationship as a space to practice the balance of building trust in our own selves while recognizing how interconnected we are as a Collective.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm a queer woman who strives to live my life within an abolitionist framework, and honestly, sometimes that makes being a therapist challenging. There is a lot about the mental health field that doesn't align with how I view the world - diagnostics, categorizations, racism, ableism, family policing and mandated reporting, disregard of oppressive systems impacting us...and also, I do still feel that the therapeutic space can be a wellspring for us all to collaborate, grow, heal, and bring about revolution. As someone with lived experience with mental health issues, I know how powerful this kind of support system can be, and the more connected and embodied we are, the more we can do to build the kind of world we want to live in. Additionally, I'm an exvangelical who supports others who are deconstructing or have deconstructed their religion. And for those for whom this resonates, I can offer insight through astrology and/or Tarot in session in addition to our more typical therapy work.
