About My Clients
My clients are looking for a place where they feel deeply understood, where the nuances of their cultural experiences are validated, and where they can work to integrate different parts of themselves. We are all cultural beings, shaped by the culture around us, be it religious communities, racial or ethnic communities, socioeconomic differences, regional nuances. We seek to understand these experiences so we can create a personal and relevant treatment plan to address your mental health concerns
My Background and Approach
As a second-generation Asian American myself, I understand how hard it can be to find a therapist who *gets it*. My clients come to me when they feel that previous therapy has "hit a wall" where they don't know how to fully explain those "hard to describe" feelings that have shaped their lives. At InnerWoven, we begin by examining your past and present patterns, personal narratives, and the culture dynamics that shape you. We’ll gently detangle and reweave those different parts of your identity and experiences, especially those that have been frayed by pain, shame, or trauma. You’ll uncover a stronger, more durable sense of who you are, so you can embrace your future with confidence.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I grew up in a majority-minority community in Southern California where I was not at all an ethnic minority. I've lived in many different places around the US, and understand how it can be it's own culture shock to move from place to place, into closed communities and welcoming communities. My own life is both that of being a perpetual outsider and a welcomed insider. I get how hard it can be to navigate these worlds. I seek to help you feel more confident and assured of who you are, in spite of your circumstances.
