About My Clients
I help deep thinkers with complex identities who struggle with trauma, self-criticism, and disconnection. Using existential therapy, liberation psychology, Internal Family Systems, and Brainspotting, I empower you to step into your agency, create personal meaning of your history and experiences, get to know and love yourself, and break free from trauma. Through our work, you will feel transformed, develop a strong inner compass, and be able to act from an empowered and authentic place.
My Background and Approach
My approach to this work is liberationist, existential, and incorporates Internal Family Systems therapy and Brainspotting. Liberation psychology starts with knowing that much of your trauma stems from systemic oppression. Together we will explore how ableism, white supremacy, trans hostility, the patriarchy, and the many other forms of discrimination affect your wellness and how you can thrive in this harmful society. In existential therapy, we focus on your authenticity, agency, meaning-making, and fulfillment. The more you are connected to your whole self, the more you can connect to others in healthy ways. When you create your own meaning, you can find empowerment in living your story. Internal Family Systems therapy welcomes all of you into the room. We have internal conflicts, coping strategies we’ve outgrown, deep hurts we’re carrying, strengths we haven't yet tapped. IFS offers a path to befriending and healing all of yourself. NOTE: I am private pay; I do not accept insurance.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My therapeutic work is grounded in social justice and a trauma-informed perspective. I believe that our emotional and bodily experiences are as important as our cognitive ones and so have an integrative approach in our work. I am a white, invisibly disabled, queer, trans man. I'm committed to liberation for LGBTQIA2S+, BIPOC, disabled, and all other marginalized people. I am aligned with the fat acceptance movement. I believe in environmental justice and taking down capitalism. I am also knowledgeable about kink and polyamory and firmly believe that everyone has a right to do what they choose with their own bodies. I bring a neurodiversity perspective to understanding your mental health challenges: I honor the way you in particular function and what your needs are rather than suggesting you change your behavior to fit social parameters. I operate from a cultural humility when working with people of different racial, ethnic, or cultural backgrounds.
