With the enormous amount of labels that have surfaced over the last few years, finding the right label for yourself can be important. Sexual identity can start from not wanting to have sex at all to being extremely sexual and being okay with either identity and how to love and accept yourself with that.
I have been apart of the LGBTQ community since I was 16 and has been familiar with the challenges that face this community. It could also be a number of different issues, from learning how to navigate the different social norms of being in the community to learning how to live stealth as a trans person. Since I was able to be apart of the culture, I'm aware of the struggles and how to navigate through those struggles and challenges.
As a non-binary person, I understand the confusion and complication around gender in today's society. Being a non-binary therapist and exploring my own gender and learning the system, I can be here to help you learn your own gender, as well as all the confusing and different terms that are available to us when learning about our own identity.
When doing therapy, I often relate back to animals and how they function in their own world. Do animals have anxiety and to what extent do they have anxiety? Why is anxiety chronic in humans but not in wild animals? When it comes down to it, humans are animals and if we look at animals behavior, we can often help explain our own behavior and get back to our natural instincts.
Thoughts, feelings and behaviors always interact with each other. With this model, I have you look at your own feelings and how those feelings change our thoughts and then ultimately effect our behavior. I help break down that cycle and where to stop that cycle and where the change needs to happen. We are emotional beings and helping us understand our feelings better helps understand our own behavior.
Eclectic Therapy is about pulling from all the different orientations and finding the one that best fits the client and that is what I truly strive for. Just like everyone learns differently, we all respond to different types of therapy differently. I'm quick to learn your personality and find the best approach for you and how to help learn more about yourself with the best treatment orientation.
