About My Clients
Are you currently overwhelmed, burned out, feeling the pressure from stress? You may respond by lashing out at others (especially your partner, child, or parent), isolating from other people or activities, experiencing difficulty with finishing tasks or even concentrating on tasks, crying out of the blue, feeling like you can't sit still, or experiencing tension in your body. Improving your well-being or mental health may be a goal for you and I want to help you achieve your goal.
My Background and Approach
I've worked with other individuals who have also experienced some of the same issues you are seeking help for, such as anxiety, depression, reactions to trauma, feeling overwhelmed or experiencing burn out. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and supportive. I will work with you to define your goals in therapy, as well as sustainable actions that will help you achieve your goals. My approach also entails empowering others, which means I will help you discover (or re-discover) your power within to improve your overall well-being and quality of life. This may look like improved relationships, participation in things that you enjoy, increased productivity, the ability to manage stress effectively, and other improvements in your life. To help you achieve your goals, I will provide a safe space where you can bring issues to the therapy sessions, while also providing guidance and support through specific and tangible strategies that you can use outside of sessions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in progress and not perfection. I believe one must take one step at a time and celebrate each step forward (whether big or small). I also believe that each individual has his or her own inner (and even outer) strengths to enhance his or her well-being and a better quality of life. I am aware of the effects of oppression and racism within our BIPOC communities (myself included) and strive to do what I can to help strengthen these communities that are impacted. I support racial equality and justice. I have participated in other initiatives and programs geared toward building the knowledge, awareness, and skills of individuals to increase cultural and racial awareness. As a result, I also help others heal wounds from racial injustice (whether experienced directly or indirectly) and discover a sense of strength and power within themselves.
