About My Clients

I work with clients who are historically marginalized by society because of race, gender expression, sexual orientation, ability, nationality, and neurodiversity. If you've ever been called "too sensitive" or "too much" or "too weird", then we may be a good fit. Are you hoping to understand family dynamics or heal generational trauma, then we may be a good fit. If you're trying to understand your emotions, anxiety, panic, depression, or burnout, relationship issues, let's talk!

My Background and Approach

As a couple and family therapist, I am trained to approach couples and individuals with a systemic lens. I help clients see how larger systems like capitalism, white supremacy, and patriarchy impact out wellbeing. With a narrative, emotionally focused, trauma-informed approach, I work to understand client experiences with empathy, compassion and humor. My hope is that through our work together, clients can understand and care for all the parts of themselves, learn how to feel emotions and regulate them, advocate for themselves in relationships, and learn to accommodate their needs without shame or embarrassment. With couples, my goal is to help folks communicate compassionately and respectfully, express emotions, and identify and correct problematic patterns of interaction, and learn how to listen without defensiveness. I use warmth, positive regard, humor, and gentle honesty to affirm, support, and guide clients through their healing process.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that we all contain good and bad. The goal isn't to change or hide or remove the bad parts, but to learn that even those dark parts of ourselves deserve love, curiosity, and compassion. I believe that diagnosis and pathologizing normal human responses to life is rooted in white supremacy and isn't always best practice. I believe that clients are the experts on their lived experiences. I believe that therapy is a collaborative practice in which client and therapist work together to determine what makes the most sense for the client's life. I believe that life isn't "one size fits all", and we all deserve to be able to live in a way that fits specifically for us, our needs and our morals and ethics. I believe that living in community with others is the best way to challenge capitalism and white supremacy, and promote healing and acceptance.
