About My Clients
Are you feeling tired of overthinking? Maybe you're starting a new semester and you're already worried about your grades or unsure whether to trust the friendly person in your class. Sometimes you might freeze, not knowing what to say to someone. I know exactly how you feel - hurt from a past experience and uncertain where to go next. I also have the knowledge and experience to help you understand yourself and help you get moving, one step at a time.
My Background and Approach
I have a BA from UC Berkeley and an MSW from the University of Southern California, with a specialization in children & families. While helping families reunify, I recognized the lack of quality mental health services available for people of color so I got trained in evidence based practices at a large mental health nonprofit. I'm trained in CBT and Incredible Years. My approach is transparent, collaborative, and strength-based. Sessions are structured, and each has practice of specific topics or tools. I'm certified in and mostly use MAP (Managing and Adapting Practice) to track your goal on a spreadsheet so you can see your progress on a graph at any point in treatment. It's like a road map; it can tell you where we've been and where we can go next. With curiosity and kindness, we'll talk about all of your feelings, brain, body, and thoughts, so that together, we can help you get to where you want to go. It’s my role to support you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As the daughter of immigrants, I always understood the complexities of trauma and its effects on individuals and families. Throughout my life, I have belonged everywhere and nowhere, and I learned to appreciate all of me, to live life on my own terms and help others do the same. I strongly believe that people can change and write their own narrative. I can empower people with the tools they need to listen to their feelings and needs, solve problems, and develop new perspectives because I'm professionally trained to do so and because I personally learned. I also appreciate nature, dance, art, and humor - I believe that they can be vehicles for healing. Let's find how we can use your interests to help you heal!
