About My Clients
In every journey, you need a guide. A guide to navigate not only the stresses inherent in everyday life, but a guide to overcome the stresses that become anxieties and keep you stuck, scared, and overwhelmed. Otherwise, anxieties (and traumas) grow bigger and take up more space in your life. They show up in your performance at work, in your relationships, your sleep, even your health. The truth is that you deserve to live a life free of anxiety, a life that you love.
My Background and Approach
I use an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from approaches including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, EMDR, psychodynamic and interpersonal, and mindfulness. CBT is most useful in helping to quickly reduce symptoms and finding a new way of thinking about things. EMDR is a cutting edge treatment for PTSD and trauma where 84-90% of clients no longer have PTSD after as few as 3 sessions. Many psychological symptoms can be tied to the way we interact with one another, so I use the therapy relationship as a venue for playing out and adjusting interpersonal dynamics. Mindfulness (along with hypnosis, etc.) helps us to turn toward a problem rather than turn away, and can bring us to a more relaxed way of being. I have received intensive training for treating anxiety and depression with Dr. Aaron Beck, the founding father of CBT, and Dr. Judith Beck, the current president of the Beck Institute for CBT. I have also received intensive training with Dr. Victor in interpersonal psychotherapy.
