I completed a concentration in trauma and abuse along with my degree. I am attuned to the way that sexual abuse, trauma, emotional & physical abuse impact our capacity to relate to others and trust ourselves. I am passionate about narrative-focused trauma care.
Neuroscience shows us that we operate in patterns, based on past experience. Your sense of safety and connectedness with caregivers growing up, friends, and significant others impacts how you move through your world, and keeping this lens in mind can be hugely helpful. We can earn secure attachments with others and ourselves, no matter what our pasts held!
I believe harm and healing occur within relationships. The relationship we cultivate of trust and honesty in the therapy space can be a learning lab, where we practice new skills that can then be translated into other relationships in your life. I believe the "click" and fit between therapist and client is one of the most important predictors of success in therapy, so I will be very open and honest in helping you find the best person with whom to seek care!
My undergraduate studies were in pre-medical biological sciences, so my attention to and care for our bodily systems is always present in the room. I truly believe our bodies have wisdom to share with us, and I am passionate about providing care in the spaces where your mind and body seem to be at war. I also believe that we are meant to move through our emotions--physically move! I incorporate gentle exercises in therapy when helpful.
I am trained in narrative-focused trauma care, which means that I am honored to walk with you into your stories of harm and explore how they impacted you.
