About My Clients
Hello there, I’m a trauma-informed, relational therapist who loves working with people healing from trauma and abuse, learning to befriend and honor their bodies, and seeking a caring witness as they walk through anxiety, queer identity formation, grief, and truth-telling in general. Everyday, I want to push back on how avoidance and minimization of past experiences, relationships, and harmful systems can keep us stuck in patterns of self-questioning and survival-mode living.
My Background and Approach
My therapeutic approach is relational, trauma-informed, and attuned to what our bodies have to tell us. People describe me as warm and easy to talk to, and I’m not against utilizing the healing power of laughter! I’m fascinated by how neuroscience and attachment (early formational relationships) shape how we think and feel. I let these principles guide everything I do as a therapist. I focused on healing from trauma and abuse in my studies, and love walking with people as they explore the systems that have shaped them: family relationships, systemic oppression, religious contexts, cultural values…the list is long. And I think they all matter. I believe going to therapy is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. There are easier and seemingly more convenient routes available: denial, avoidance, minimization… I’m here for the folks who have seen how these attempts end up bringing more pain and keeping them stuck. Healing is possible, and I'd be honored to walk alongside you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
An anchoring goal for me is to be less afraid of our own minds. We don't think or feel anything for absolutely no reason, so leaning in, even into those uncomfortable emotions we would like to deny or ignore, will lead to more growth, understanding, and flourishing. I'm always about offering more tenderness and kindness to our systems, because we are the way we are for a reason. I also believe freedom begets freedom, so as you begin to embrace and understand more of yourself, a domino effect of flourishing begins. I am a queer woman who practices body acceptance, is attuned to systemic oppression, and is passionate about learning to listen to our bodies. I place lots of value in the goodness of fit between therapist and client, so I will encourage you in your journey of finding the right care for you, even if that isn't with me. Congrats on beginning or continuing your search!
