About My Clients
I help Asian American teens & adults deal with life; difficulties with adjustment, family conflicts, career choices and relationships. Maybe you are struggling w/ perfectionism standards of being a "model minority." You may feel alone, and want to talk with someone, as you can't go to friends with these issues. As an Asian American who was raised with "tiger parenting" disciplining, I now work to dispel the harmful stereotypical standards in our community and support anyone going through this.
My Background and Approach
I support your feelings and experiences validated through my non-judgmental approach of active listening, empathy and advocacy. I hope to connect with you as a trusted resource with whom you feel heard and seen. I will help you reframe distorted thoughts, utilizing your values and ethics. I empower you with self-determination, and should you choose change, I motivate you toward change as an equal partner in the process. I work with all clients affected by "tiger parenting," perfectionism and Impostor Syndrome-regardless of ethnicity-will need support because these result in anxiety, depression, stress-related work and family issues. I also work with those needing financial behavioral and cognitive shifting, and need support w/ conquering money, credit & debt management. I utilize therapy modalities of ACT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused short-term, psychodynamic, financial behavioral change, mindfulness-based techniques in my work with you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a firm believer in therapy, because I also go to therapy! I believe it to be one of the best outlets to be honest while in a safe and validating space with someone else who is 100% in your corner. Sometimes journaling and meditation can only do so much, and you really need to verbalize your feelings to someone else. You may feel like you can't go to your friends or family because they won't understand, or because you're feeling embarrassed or ashamed. Going outside of your immediate circle to find a therapist that matches your values is a way to find objective support from someone you trust. It's definitely OK to reach out for help so that you no longer have to suffer in silence and alone. Please understand that the therapy fee you are paying is an investment in YOUR mental health and finding emotional peace, and this is well worth it. By being on this directory and reading this, you are taking the first steps to investing in yourself, the most important relationship
