About My Clients
Are you a recovering perfectionist with a penchant for creative expression and spiritual practice? Do you feel burnt out by how much you care yet deflated by the systems with which you interact? Is your attention overly affected by sensory stimuli in your environment? Are you recovering from the loss of a loved one? If you answered "yes" to any of these, then you're likely in the right place! ππ»
My Background and Approach
I ask clients to deepen their experience of here-and-now emotions through the use of bodily awareness, creative exercise, and the physical environment. I take into consideration that a client's belief in their ability to change may be affected by their unique positionality when it comes to oppression and privilege. I meet you where you are at while also compassionately challenging you to see what could be different. Clients have described me as embodying "tough love" in that I use calmness, compassion, honesty, and humor during the therapy hour. π
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that change can only occur once we deeply accept ourselves as worthy of our own lives and take back the power we have given others over us. At the beginning of therapy, this often looks like embodying all the ways we have made ourselves appear deficient, small, and weak. As someone who has struggled with issues related to burnout, codependency, high sensitivity, obsessive thinking, and trauma, I know first hand what it's like to feel small. In my spare time, you can find me collaging, dancing, spending time outside, and writing. Prior to counseling, I worked extensively in various nonprofits and have a soft spot for caretakers, changemakers, and creatives. My flavor of activism is often associated with the arts, and I have been a member of LGBTQIA+ choruses across the Front Range. While I don't love labels, I identify as queer and see many clients who similarly identify. π
