About My Clients
The guiding phrase for my practice is "being over doing." When was the last time you just let yourself be without judgement? What would it be like to find more presence, connection and compassion in your life? Using nature, self-compassion and mindfulness, therapy with me is an invitation to pause and explore the parts of you looking for attention and nurturing.
My Background and Approach
My undergraduate work was in child development and family systems. That foundation, along with my masters in marriage and family therapy, taught me to look at people in the context of their family systems and the larger environmental system. My therapeutic approach is collaborative, affirming, creative and emotion focused. I am trained in Brainspotting Phase 1 and 2, as well as a nature mindfulness training called Natural Mindfulness. I also conceptualize myself and clients through an IFS framework.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Our busy society is stressing us out. The demands of work, school, money, healthcare, etc causes chronic stress. I believe there is something different out there for us... a way to live our lives for ourselves that is focused on our intrinsic value and not on what we produce or do. My values honor rest, wellbeing, trauma-informed care, creativity, intentionality and self-compassion. I believe in mental health care for all and especially want to honor the TSLGBTQIA+, Indigenous and Black communities that have been historically marginalized from the mental health community.
