About My Clients

I've exclusively supported college students for more than four years so I consider that unique population to be a specialty of mine, however, I work with all legal adults on issues related to adjustment disorders and life transitions, anxiety disorders, interpersonal relationship challenges, and issues related to male identity and masculinity, among other things.

My Background and Approach

As a clinician with a certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I believe that there's a connection among our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and that we have the power to use this connection to our advantage. At Positive Perceptions, LLC, I help participants challenge and re-frame their negative perspectives in order to view their situations differently and find new meaning in their lives. I also incorporate various elements from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); Mindfulness; Motivational Interviewing (MI); and Strengths-Based, Solution-Focused Therapy into my personal style. I believe that using an eclectic approach is the only way to truly meet the unique and complex needs of each participant that I work with, and that having an ecological lens is essential when it comes to acknowledging and integrating a participant's identities, personality traits, and lived experiences into the therapeutic space.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Regardless of my treatment modalities, I always provide my participants with gratitude, humility, empathy, and respect. I recognize that seeking mental health support requires vulnerability, and that demonstrating vulnerability requires courage. Thus, I appreciate the strength that my participants inherently bring to therapy, and I strive to build on their strength to help them meet their goals and reach their potential. I believe that people are the experts of their own lives and thus, I provide unconditional support and empowerment in a nonjudgmental and affirming space so participants can experience relief from symptoms and discover long-lasting personal growth. I'm committed to self-care for my participants, as well as myself. I'm passionate about food and view cooking as a great way to relax at the end of a long day. In my free time, I enjoy hiking in the mountains, relaxing on a beach, and spending quality time with my dog, Lyra.
