About My Clients
During our sessions, we will dive deep into the layers underneath the things creating struggle and stress for you. I will never ask you to do more than you feel capable of, but once we know each other well, we will work as a team to create a plan to address your needs most effectively. Most of my clients report feeling better after a month of regularly practicing new skills.
My Background and Approach
My Ph.D. and MSW prepared me to be an expert in trauma. I have over 27 years of experience helping adolescents and adults navigate life issues. The last six years have been focused on providing therapy from a resilience-informed, trauma-informed lens that helps clients improve their functioning and interpersonal relationships. I often use motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques as a foundational approach to exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences and contribute to your being stuck. Once we've formed a rapport, I'll help you to increase awareness of your mind/body connection to help reduce somatic symptoms present due to the stress your body might be holding on to.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their lives. I don't believe that there is a limit to human capacity. I think the main reason we develop mental health issues is because they are unhealthy learned behaviors that we have picked up along the way. This means that I think you can unlearn the faulty behaviors and replace them with healthy ones. I don't discriminate against anyone. If you want to learn more about how I can help, message me.
