About My Clients
I love working with queer, trans, fat, and/or disabled adults. I enjoy learning from the creativity and ingenuity that allowed my clients to arrive in my (virtual office). In our work together we will honor those survival strategies, even as we develop new skills for your present self.
My Background and Approach
I primarily practice feminist therapy, which means that I look at our work in terms of four different areas: your relationship to your body, to your self, to your loved ones/community, and to a source of meaning. Overall my goal is to connect you to the things that make your life worthwhile, and give you some useful coping strategies for surviving the tough times. In my work with clients I draw from many different techniques including polyvagal theory, narrative therapy, emotion-focused therapy, Body Trust®, Lifespan Integration, and somatic methodologies. I see therapy as a collaborative process, and I look to my clients to tell me what works for them (or doesn't!).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My therapeutic approach is rooted in fat and trans liberation, disability justice, anti-racism, and prison abolition. I believe every person is creative, worthy, and capable if given the right support and care. I am a Certified Body Trust® provider and do not work with intentional weight loss goals. I use a consent-based model for gender-affirming treatment letters and provide free letters to trans clients upon request.
