About My Clients
My clients are people who love life and want the most out of their relationships. Connection, love and companionship are all of great value to them. They are committed to those they relate to. However, the stress and the business of life may have gotten them off track. As a result, they are proactive in seeking support and come to see me, an Emotionally Focused Therapist, to help them identify what is blocking their relationship goals of love and connection and to help them remove these blocks.
My Background and Approach
Emotionally Focused Therapist and Supervisor EFT for Couples is a three stage nine step process that takes a couple out of their negative repetitive fights that are causing a couple distress, anguish and pain and into a new place of bonding and connection where the fights are resolvable and solutions can be found. It was created by Dr. Susan Johnson and based on research in attachment theory and emotion, as well as, on systems, humanistic, and experiential treatment models. As a model itself, it has been validated by research to help about 70% of couples achieve some long term gain. Couples often come to therapy having had a problem and negative interaction pattern for 5 to 7 years. This is a long time to have been experiencing distress and pain. The EFT counselor is very aware of this and strives consciously and continuously to create a safe environment were both parties feel heard and affirmed. This felt sense of safety is extremely important to the work of EFT.
