I am an EMDR Certified therapist. One of the things I love about EMDR is that it offers so much control to the client. Together, we will determine where we focus, and the pace at which we move through the process. Not only can EMDR help to resolve painful memories, it can also help you to increase positive emotions and experiences, like feeling calm, protected, or nurtured.
I am trained in both Foundations and Advanced Techniques in Sand Tray Play Therapy, including the use of Sandtray to resolve trauma, virtual uses of Sand Tray, and the combination of EMDR & Sandtray techniques. Trauma affects the area of the brain dedicated to speech and reason, making it hard to fully process using only words. Sand Tray is a great tool for all ages (children through adults) that can allow you to process past events using your creative right brain.
In my practice, I take a trauma-informed approach. Before we address trauma, you and I will make sure you are prepared for this work through skill development that can help you manage strong emotions like anxiety and anger. We may also work first to enhance positive emotions and experiences. When you are ready, I will work with you to process past trauma, tailoring your treatment to meet your needs.
