I have firsthand experience in suffering from chronic illness/pain, and in supporting family members who struggle with these concerns. We can process the fears, struggles, and concerns that go along with health issues - physical, financial, mental, social, and emotional. We can also work on coping skills for managing pain, and communication skills for discussing needs, boundaries, and limitations with loved ones, jobs, or health care workers.

Although many think of trauma as things like physical abuse or the loss of a loved one (both of which can be highly traumatic!), trauma is anything that causes a long-term negative impact for you. I am passionate about helping clients who have experienced trauma, particularly abuse survivors and those with trauma resulting from being a part of marginalized communities. I am trained in a variety of trauma therapy techniques, and we can discuss which option is best for you.

Anxiety can be triggered by many things - social situations, physical concerns, circumstances, other mental illnesses - but regardless of the cause, we can work on skills to cope! We can also explore underlying negative beliefs or continuing triggers that may be linked to the anxiety, and work to find more adaptive ways to cope or process.

I am trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, and use elements of this approach in combination with EMDR. I can provide education about types of trauma and how trauma impacts your brain and body. I can also help to find underlying negative beliefs or "stuck points" that are keeping you from moving forward and healing more fully!

With Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, we can explore the ways that your thoughts, emotions, and actions are linked - and work to find healthier ways of managing those links! We can use this approach in combination with other styles of therapy.

With EMDR, we will explore the root causes of your concerns and help you to move from a negative belief to a more positive, adaptive way of thinking. We can process past traumas, current concerns, and/or future worries. This is one of the top-recommended approaches for trauma, but can be used for other needs as well!
