About My Clients
My specialties include: grief and loss, anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic illnesses such as Alzheimer's disease, chronic kidney disease/dialysis, working with caregivers, Geriatrics, Military/Veterans, other life changes, transitions, and losses. My practice is holistic, it focuses on the "whole" person and integrates spiritual, physical, mental and emotional forms of well-being.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience working with individuals, families and groups. Most of my experience comes from working in healthcare settings, specifically working with patients and families dealing with chronic illnesses. My most recent experience comes from working with military service members. I’ve worked with diverse populations in non-profit organizations, in-home services and for-profit healthcare treatment settings. My clinical approach is eclectic, I combine different evidence-based interventions to meet each individuals needs. Furthermore, my approach is person-centered, and strengths based. My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their lives, there is no limit to human capacity. I think the main reason we develop mental health issues is because there are unhealthy learned behaviors that we have picked up along the way. The good news is you can unlearn the faulty behaviors and replace them with healthy ones. As a child and early into my young adulthood I experienced anxiety and panic attacks. Through my own therapy, I learned how to handle my anxiety and move past it so that it didn't have control over me. I'm first generation born in the United States and the first female in my family to graduate from college and the only female in my family with an advanced degree. I connect well with people from different cultures, and I don't discriminate against anyone. I enjoy traveling, being outdoors and spending time with my family and friends. One of my goals in life is to own farmhouse in the country where I can grow my own crops.
