Social Worker in Chicago, IL

About My Clients

I know from experience how important it is to create a safe, empowering and affirming therapy space, that will foster trust and allow us to acknowledge the nuances and beauties of your intersecting identities and unique inner self. I enjoy working with adults 18+ from diverse backgrounds and am committed to understanding your unique experience.

My Background and Approach

I approach therapy from an anti-oppressive, feminist, sex positive and trauma-informed lens that views the therapeutic relationship one of equal participants, and values mutual collaboration from everyone involved. This approach fosters healing from the effects of oppression, trauma, and intersectional violence we face. During our work together I am able to pull from the following therapeutic modalities; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Strength-based therapy. In my work couples or relationship therapy I am Level One Gottman Certified, and able to utilize Emotionally Focused Relationship Therapy, and Attachment Therapy. Drawing from my therapy toolbox we can establish treatment goals and expected outcomes for therapy that recognize the strengths and resilience you have within yourself, to cope with internal and external distress due to your lived experience

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a Black, mixed-race, pansexual, cisgender woman and part of other pleasure-focused communities. My personal beliefs can be summed up in the following quote: “But when we begin to live from within outward, in touch with the power of the erotic within ourselves, and allowing that power to inform and illuminate our actions upon the world around us, then we begin to be responsible to ourselves in the deepest sense. For as we begin to recognize our deepest feelings, we begin to give up, of necessity, being satisfied with suffering and self-negation, and with the numbness which so often seems like their only alternative in our society. Our acts against oppression become integral with self, motivated and empowered from within.” ― Audre Lorde, Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power
