About My Clients
Are you or your partner experiencing growing pains? I work with individuals and couples experiencing life transitions and relational conflict on their journeys toward wholeness. My clients are often folks navigating life at the intersections of race, religion, and sexuality. Growth begins with asking for help! You are well on your way.
My Background and Approach
I believe that every individual is an expert in their own experiences and holds the keys to their own healing. As a therapist, I do not operate as an instructor but instead hope to help you dial into your inner voice, your truth. In every session, we'll explore the stories you believe about the world, and yourself, and discover the meaning behind your emotions. Why do we feel what we feel? What are emotions trying to teach us? And of course, how can you bring about the change and healing you want to see in your life? My goal is to expand your capacity to name your emotions, express your needs, and face challenging situations. The modalities I use are DBT, EFT, and Narrative Therapy. You can ask me what these mean and how I use them in a consultation to see if they would be a good fit for you!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I approach my work with compassion, empathy, and understanding, knowing that many of the challenges we all face begin with circumstances outside of our control. That includes childhood trauma but runs the gamut of systems of oppression, including capitalism, racism, religious oppression, and more. Our pain points often can be traced to wounds in the systems we belong to -- family systems as well as larger societal systems. And so, too, our healing will require changes in us and our relationships to and within these same systems. In this way, personal healing can be liberating and transformative.
