About My Clients
My interests lie in working with: women who have experienced trauma, individuals or couples exploring their relationships, and survivors of abuse. I help clients with self-esteem, identity exploration, setting boundaries, anxiety, depression, social anxiety, disordered eating, excoriation, and more.
My Background and Approach
Helping you determine what you wish to accomplish in therapy and assisting you in making progress towards your goal(s) is my aim. Because I understand the importance of psychological safety and feeling heard and understood, I strive to create a warm, safe environment where empathy abounds. Helping clients gain insight and develop coping skills to improve their lives is my goal. I enjoy working with a variety of individuals and believe in a client-centered, strengths-based, humanistic approach. I have training in grief literacy, substance use, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and have worked with both individuals and groups. My experience includes work with clients ages 14 and older. When life is hard and you’re looking for an empathetic ear, I’m here to support you. I consider it an honor when clients share their journeys.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Life can be challenging at times. I strive to create a welcoming environment where clients feel that they have a safe space to process trauma, work through life transitions, work on their relationships, and/or learn coping skills to help them better navigate their lives. I believe that everyone has the capacity to grow. In order to understand one's beliefs, motivations, and behaviors, it's necessary to look at society as a whole, the culture one is immersed in, the institutions one is affiliated with, and the people one works with, lives with, was raised by, plays with, etc. Our challenges didn't arise in a vacuum, so it's important to acknowledge that, not to cast blame, but to gain insight, as we seek to improve our situations. I believe in equity, and thus am a feminist and am striving to identify and work to eliminate (or at least reduce) any implicit biases I may encounter in myself. I believe in authenticity, kindness and humor.
