About My Clients
Most of my experience has been working with adults in recovery from substance use from a trauma informed perspective. I am very nonjudgemental, open minded, and have lots of experience doing harm reduction counseling with folks. I enjoy working with those who are legally involved. Additionally, with a background in outdoor education, camp counseling, and school counseling, I enjoy working with teens and adolescents as well and consider myself strong in this area.
My Background and Approach
I utilize a holistic, trauma-informed approach that blends mindfulness, harm reduction, and spiritually informed counseling to help individuals heal and thrive in their recovery journeys. A core strength is helping adults struggling with addiction build resilience and develop healthier relationships, while also addressing the root causes of their substance use. Knowing how personal the reasons for using may be, I thoroughly enjoy helping folks figure out some of the deeper reasons of why they may be using, if there are any, and if they are ready to go there. With years of lived experience and professional experience, I think I am a great fit for working with folks in recovery.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
With lived experience in substance use and sustained recovery, I bring a deep, personal understanding of the challenges clients face, particularly in reconnecting spiritually—a central theme in some of the work I enjoy doing with clients. I believe that disconnection from one's spiritual self is a significant factor in many mental health struggles and I strive to help clients reconnect to their spiritual core as a path to healing and long-term recovery.
